The 17th Auction by Psatharis Auction House Ltd,
which was held on 3 December 2014 at the HILTON
HOTEL, Nicosia, was highly successful. Out of
the 119 works auctioned, 94 were sold or 79%,
bringing the revenue (auction price, commission
and VAT) to €345.907 (by value). Of the 60 works
in the catalogue of Cypriot artists, 51 were
sold, or 85% and of the 59 of Greek and foreign
artists 43 were sold or 72%.
First place went to “Phantom Church”, by George
Pol Georgiou reaching the selling price of
€40.355. Second place went to“Women Washing At
The Well” by Christoforos Savva reaching
€31.403. Third place went to “Working In the
fields” by Michael Chr. Kashalos, from a
starting price of €16.000 after six bids reached
the hammer price of €21.000 and the selling
price of €24.689.
The art-loving public also showed an interest in
all the works of Ioannis Kissonergis. “Karpasia
Coast” reached the selling price of €9.428. “The
Birth Of Aphrodite” reached €21,213,
“Karpasitopoula With Spindles” €14.142. “St.
Andrew, the First Called” reached €5.303 and
“Old Nicosia”, aquarelle, reached €5.892.
“House with arch and trees” by Adamantios
Diamantis, the title is from the artist’s
records, reached the selling price of €19.445.
Three works by Telemachos Kanthos “Apples On A
Village Chair”, after 5 bids sold for €9.428.
“Almond Trees In The Afternoon”, aquarelle,
after 8 bids doubled its starting price of
€2.200 and realised €4.478; the etching by the
same artist realised €824.
“Greek Beach” by Michalis Economou, sold for
€14.142. “The Fishmonger”, by Stefanos Lantzas,
sold for €12.962.
A great interest was also shown for the works of
Victor Ioannides “Boats in the old Limassol port”.
After 11 bids it doubled its starting price of
€2.000 reaching €5.185. “Vase with flowers fruit
and wine” and “Blossom, Fruit and wine”, “Female
figure” reached €2.592 respectively.
Two works by Stas Paraskos “Frixos and Elli” and
“Disco”, the first one after 11 bids reached the
selling price of €5.185 and the second one after
6 bids €3.535. “No title” by Stelios Votsis
after 7 bids reached €2.592 and “HOPE” by Fotis
Hadjisotiriou after 9 bids trebled its starting
price of €800 realising €2.828. “Little girl” by
Poliklitos Rengos after 10 bids doubled its
starting price of €1.800 reaching €4.242.
Also sold, works by other artists such as:
Lefteris Economou, Marios Loizides, Epaminontas
Thomopoulos, Spyros Vasiliou, Daniel A. Daniel,
Loukas Yeralis, Nikolaos Alektorides, Theodoros
Pantaleontas, Charilaos Dikeou, Michael
Manousakis, Mikis Finikarides, Manolis Xarou,
Kosmas Stathi, Andreas Nicolaou, Costas Malamou,
Sophia Laskaridou, Andreas Charalambides,
Lykourgos Kogevina, Umbertos Argyrou, Theodoros
Manolides, Andros Efstathiou, Kyriakos Kouli,
Rinos Stefani, Christos Foukaras, Glyn Hughes,
Costas Paniara, Mikis Matsakis, Demetris Yerou,
Grivas Lambrou and others were also sold.
