one of

German
porcelain
painters.
Porcelain company Karl Ens:

Thuringia.
Porzellanfabrik Karl Ens (
1898 - 1972)
Nationalized in 1972 as VEB
Unterglasurporzellanfabrik
(1972 - 1974)
later part of the VEB
Sitzendorfer
Porzellanmanufaktur (1974 -
1990)
After 1990 again privatized.
Porzellanfabrik Karl Ens
- the Karl Ens Porcelain
Factory - operated from 1889 to 1972. In 1860
Friedrich Karl Ens and a man by the
name of Triebner established
a porcelain manufacturing
business called Triebner,
Ens & Co. Over the next few
decades their products
became highly regarded, due
largely to the efforts and
talent of Ens' two sons. In 1899 Karl
Ens left the company
together with his sons and
founded Porzellanfabrik Karl
Ens which was widely known
for the quality and artistry
of its work. Rather than
producing dinnerware and
other utilitarian objects,
Karl Ens focused on the
production of exquisite,
ornamental objects which
were highly prized by those
lucky enough to afford them.
