The 19th
Auction by Psatharis Auction House Ltd,
which was held on 2 December 2015 at the
HILTON Hotel, Nicosia, was successful.
Of the 138 works auctioned, 96 were
sold, or 70%, bringing the revenue
(auction price, commission and VAT) to
€308.649 by value 86%.
In first place was “Agricultural Scene”,
by Michalis Chr. Kashialos, which, after
nine bids, reached the selling price of
€26.927 from its starting price of
€15.000. In second place was “Lapithos”,
by Adamantios Diamantis with a selling
price of €25.808 and in third place was
“Goose”, a collage by Christoforos Savva
reaching the selling price of €17.677.
Of the works of the Greek artists in
first place was “EPISTROFI” (Return) by
Yiannis Spyropoulos, reaching the
selling price of €13.552.
The public showed a great interest in
all the works by Telemachos Ganthos.
“Agrotissa” (Woman Farmer), from a
starting price of €6.500, after 9 bids
doubled its starting price, reaching a
selling price of €14.142. The three
watercolours by the same artist, “Alona”,
“Landscape in Alona” and “Portrait”
attracted great interest and went from
their respective starting prices of
€1.500 to the selling price of €1.767,
the second one after 10 bids exceeded
its starting price of €1.500 reaching
the selling price of €3.299 and the
third one reached €2.239.
Of the 96 works sold, 45 attracted only
one bid, whereas 51 attracted more than
2 bids. The greatest number of bids were
made for “Landscape” by Charilaos Dikeos,
which, after 15 bids from its starting
price of €400, reached the selling price
of €1.414. “Pilgrimage”, a pastel, by
Christos Foukaras, after 14 bids, almost
trebled its starting price of €500,
reaching the selling price of €1.414.
“The Stone of Patience”, an engraving,
by Telemachos Ganthos, and “In Love”,
oil, by Stass Paraskos attracted 13
bids, the first one, from €500, reached
a selling price of €1.532 and the second
one went from €800 to €2.239. “Angels
With Mermaids” by Giorgos Erotokritou,
after 12 bids from its starting price of
€1.300, reached €3.299. “Keryneia”, a
watercolour, by John Sabry, after 11
bids from its starting price of €600,
reached the selling price of €1.532.
The works by brothers Xanthos and Fotos
Hadjisotiriou also attracted interest.
“Figures”, by Xanthos, after 8 bids,
more than doubled its starting price of
€2.000 reaching €4.124. “The Proud One”,
by Fotos, from its starting price of
€2.000, reached €3.299. “Nisou”, by
Lefteris Economou, from €2.000 reached
€3.064. “Anemones Among Rocks”, by
Andreas Ladomatos, reached the selling
price of €11.785.
The public also showed a vibrant
interest in the works of Greek artists
such as “Chess”, by Spyros Vikatou,
which, from its starting price of
€3.500, reached the selling price of
€6.481 after 5 bids. “Abstract
composition” by Takis Martha was sold
for €7.660. “Arachova” by Epaminondas
Thomopoulos, from its starting price of
€2.500 reached the selling price of
€4.419 after 3 bids.
Works by S. Vasiliou, O. Fokas, E. Louka,
S. Laskaridou, D. Daniel, D. Megalides,
S. Karvelis, G. Golfinou, A. Panayiotou,
M. Makroulakis, O. Zouni, P. Rengos, G.
Hughes, A. Charalambides, Th. Rossidou,
A. Kontopoulos, S. Votsis, S. Georgiades,
G. Georgiou, K. Kouli a.o were also
sold.
