John Sabry was born and raised in Kyrenia,
Cyprus; a painter from an early age, he also worked as a
professional photographer and managed the Kodak shop in
Nicosia during the 1950’s.
His photographs are evocative images from
that era, taken on slide film. In 1965 three of his
paintings were selected for the Royal Academy Summer
show in London and in 1965 John Sabry won a National
Geographic Photographic award «The world & it’s people».
John lived and worked as an artist in England, Lebanon
and Italy. He remained a keen photographer and worked
daily in his studio at Lemba near Paphos, until a few
weeks before his death in 2006. |
