Ο Κυριάκος Μορταράκος γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1948.

Σπούδασε στην Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας ζωγραφική με τον Γ. Μόραλη, νωπογραφία με τον Κ. Ξυνόπουλο και σκηνογραφία με τον Β. Βασιλειάδη. Απεφοίτησε το 1976.

Από το 2005 είναι τακτικός καθηγητής στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης στο τμήμα Εικαστικών και Εφαρμοσμένων Τεχνών.

Kyriakos Mortarakos was born in Athens, in 1948.

He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, painting under Y. Moralis, fresco under K. Xinopoulos and stage design under V. Vasiliadis. He graduated in 1976.

Since 2005 he is a professor at the Aristotlean University of Thessaloniki at the Department of Visual Applied Arts.
