Born in Thessalonica, Kostis Georgiou studied stage
scenery in Florence (1981 - 1982), painting and
sculpture in the School of Fine Arts, Athens (1982 -
1986) with Dimitris Mitaras and Dimosthenis Kokinidis,
as well as at the Royal College of Fine Arts, London
(1985 - 1986) with Peter de Francia. He had his first
one-man exhibition in Thessalonica (1974). Other solo
and group shows followed in Greece and abroad. He has
taught painting and stage scenery at the "L.Stavrakos"
Cinematographic School (1988 - 1991) and designed stage
scenery for many performances of the Greek theatre and
television (1982 - 1988). He has been awarded with the
First Prize of the
ΧΧ
International Premio di Sulmona and with special prizes
at the Osaka Triennale 93 and the Young European Artists
in Brussels (1990 and 1992). His work is placed in the
area of abstract expressionism. He lives and works in
Athens. |
