The 15th Auction
by Psatharis Auction House Ltd, which was held on 4/12/2013 at
the HILTON HOTEL – NICOSIA was very successful, with revenue
(auction price, commission and VAT on the commission) amounting
to €155.000. Out of the 114 works that were auctioned, 71 were
sold, or 62% and 79% of the total on the starting price (by
value).
In top place was the work of Adamantios Diamantis “The Birth of
Christ” that reached the selling price of €29.425. This was
followed by the work of Michael Chr. Kashalos, “For the
Harvest”, that reached €16.478. In third place was the work by
Victoras Ioannides, “Children with Goats”, reaching €10.004,
followed by the work of Yannis Gaitis, “A Couple”, realizing
€7.062
Out of the 71 works that were sold, the art lovers showed a
great interest resulting in 40 accepting many bids and the
remaining 31 were sold at their starting price. The work by
Themistoklis Fotiades, “New Born” attracted a record of 20 bids
and from its starting price of €400 reached a selling price of
€2.118.
“At the Church”, the work of George Erotokritos, after 13 bids
nearly trebled its starting price of €600 reaching the price of
€1.765. “Moniatis”, by Telemachos Kanthos and “Cotton Pickers”
by Fotos Hadjisoteriou attracted 12 bids, the first one from its
starting price of €3.000 reached the selling price of €8.827 and
the second one from €1.500 reached €3.884. “Alice” by Thalia
Flora Karavia after 10 bids from €500 reached €1.350. The work
of George Skotinos “Archaic” was sold for €2.000 and “Archaic
Horses” after 7 bids from €1.500 reached €2.589.
“Composition” by Takis Frangoudes and “Composition” by Andreas
Charalambides after eight bids from their starting price of €500
and €1.800 reached €1.059 and €3.531 respectively. “Before the
Concert”, by Sofia Laskaridou, also attracted eight bids, and
from its starting price of €750 reached €1.407. “Nightclub” by
Stass Paraskos and “Without Title” by Michalis Manousakis
attracted eight bids and the first one from its starting price
of €2.000 reached €3.884 and the second one from its starting
price of €1.500 reached €2.589.
“Thira” by John Corbidge after seven bids from €1.600 reached
€2.824.
An interest was also shown in the work of Charilaos Dikaios
“Shepherd” and “At the Beach in Pernera-Protaras” the first one
from €600 after six bids and the second from €650 after seven
bids both reached €1.174.
Works of other important Cypriot and Greek artists such as Dimos
Braesas, Lefteris Economou, Mikis Finikarides, Epaminondas
Thomopoulos, Manolis Charos, Ioannis Sifneos, Kikos Lanitis,
George Kosmadopoulos, Andrew Efstathiou, Dimitris Armakolas,
Nicos Nicolaides, Andreas Asproftas, Marios Loizides, Thalia
Flora Karavia, Andreas Makariou, Xanthos Hadjisoteriou, Stathis
Vatanides, Stelios Votsis, Yanni Posnakoff, Vasilis Sperantza,
Periklis Xydias a.o. were also sold. |
