The 16^th Auction by Psatharis Auction House Ltd, which was held on 4 June 2014 at the HILTON HOTEL, Nicosia, was highly successful. Out of the 113 works in the catalogue, 82 were sold, or 72%, bringing the revenue (auction price, commission and VAT) to €220.992 (by value110%). Of the 61 works in the catalogue of Cypriot artists, 47 were sold, or 77% and of the 52 of Greek and foreign artists 35 were sold or 65%/

In first and third place were two works by Ioannis Kissonergis “Villager” and “Return From Ploughing”, the first one, from a starting price of  €10.000 with 11 bids reached the hammer price of €22.000 and the selling price of €25.927 and the second, from a starting price of €14.000, achieved a selling price of €20.034. The art-loving public also showed an interest in the watercolours by the same artist, “Bella Pais” and “Nicosia” with a selling price of €8.249 and €3.889 respectively.

 Second place went to “Thought”, by Adamantios Diamantis reaching €21.213. In fourth place was “Thirsty Bird”, by Christoforos Savva, from the starting price of €9.500 it realised €17.677.

It is worth noting that a great interest was shown in the two works by Victor Ioannides,  “At The Market” and “Fishing Boats On The Little Lake”. The first, from a starting price of  €2.000 with 11 bids, reached the selling price of €5.185 and the second, after 11 bids, €5.655.

Out of the 81 works sold, 45 attracted more than two bids. “Landscape”, by Anastasia Vlastari, catalogue number 111, after a record of 24 bids from the starting price of €300 realized a selling price of €2.121. In second place, with 17 bids, was a work by Ioannis Saridakis which, from the starting price of €400, reached the selling price of €1.767. A work by Glyn Hughes attracted 11 bids, doubling the starting price of €700 and reaching the selling price of €1.767. “Pigeons”, by Fotos Hadjisotiriou, after nine bids, doubled its starting price of €3.000, reaching the selling price of €6.481

An interest was also shown in the works by Stass Paraskos: “Water Carrier”, “Randevous” and “The District Commissioner” ; the first, after five bids, reached the selling price of €1.767, the second one, after nine bids, reached €1.767 and the third after eight bids reached €3.064.
