Results of the sixth auction
The “Psatharis Auction House” held its 6th
Auction, with great success, in a hall packed with art
lovers at the Hilton Hotel, Nicosia, last Wednesday, 14
October.
Out of the 119 works that were auctioned,
81 were sold, 68%, with a total revenue of €185.243
compared to the previous auction in April where out of
the 88 works that were auctioned 56% were sold giving a
revenue of €165.480, showing a marked increase of 21% of
works sold and of 11% in revenue.
A lot of interest was shown in the works
of both Cypriot and Greek artists. The most expensive
piece sold at the auction was “Agia Napa”, a work by
Fotis Hadjisoteriou, which realised €10.552.
The work by Demetris Yerou, “Figurine”,
dimensions 19x14 cm from €1.500 with 12 bids realised
€3.869 and “The Apple”, by the same artist, with the
same starting price realised €2.345. Telemachos Kanthos’
engraving, with the most bids (14), from its starting
price of €800 realised €2.110. Lefteris Economou’s “Dead
Nature with Pomegranates” from a starting price of
€1.000 realised €2.579 with 12 bids. Kaiti Stefanidou’s
work from €800 realised €1.876 with 11 bids. “The Vrakas”
of Charilaos Dikaios from a starting price of €1.000
realised €2.227 with 10 bids. Constantinos
Grammatopoulos’ “The Aegean” and Yiannis Spyropoulos’
“Composition” from €3.500 realised €4.690 respectively.
The work by Xanthos Hadjisoteriou “Paralimni” from
€3.000 realised €6.448.
Tristram James Ellis’ work “Troodos”, a
watercolour of 1878, from €2.800 realised €5.159. Alecos
Fassianos’ work “The Fisherman”€9.380, Solomos
Frangoulides “Roses” €7.035, Vasilis Sperantza’s
“Figures” €5.862, John Corbidge’s “The Harvest” €5.276,
George Skotinos’ “Archaic and Cycladic” and Alkis
Pierakou €4.338 respectively. Epaminontas Thomopoulos’
“The Shepherdesses” €3.869, Nikos Kouroushis’ “The
Envelope” €3.517, Iosif Hadjikyriakos’ “The Body,” from
a starting price of €1.000, realised €2.227.
